We are thrilled to announce that Recology King County has been honored with the 2024 Excellence in Recycling Public Education award by the National Waste and Recycling Association (NWRA)! This prestigious and competitive award recognizes Recology King County as a true leader in public education within the waste and recycling industry.

Recology King County (RKC) stood out for its comprehensive public education efforts aimed at increasing participation in recycling and composting programs, reducing contamination, promoting reuse, and engaging the community. By conducting tabling events, hosting facility tours, providing recycling workshops, and so much more, the RKC team has become an important contributor to its community’s recycling education.

The RKC team also manages the innovative Recology Stores in Issaquah, Burien, Bothell, and Shoreline, along with the Seattle branch of Recology’s Artist in Residence program and the Environmental Education Center at the RKC Materials Recovery Facility, all of which promote rethinking waste. Programs and facilities like these help set RKC apart from the rest in public education.

We are incredibly proud of the Recology King County team for this outstanding achievement, especially the Waste Zero team members who work so hard to educate and engage with our communities! Learn more about the team’s award.
