Items like old electronics, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and other common household products contain hazardous substances that can contaminate soil, water, and air. It is important to recycle these items properly to protect the environment.
What is Considered Electronic and Universal Waste?
- Electronics – Televisions, computers, monitors, laptops, cell phones, tablets, and printers.
- Batteries – Rechargeable batteries, car batteries, and other household batteries (lithium, lead acid, nickel-cadmium, etc.).
- Fluorescent Bulbs and Tubes – Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and other types of fluorescent light bulbs.
- Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) – Found in older televisions and computer monitors.
- Small Appliances – Items such as toasters, microwaves, vacuums, and hair dryers.
- Chargers and Cables – Old charging cables, adapters, and power cords.
- Smoke Detectors – Household smoke detectors that contain small amounts of radioactive material.
- Universal Waste – Includes pesticides, mercury-containing items, thermostats, and thermometers.

- No appointment necessary
- Free, must show proof of residency (by presenting a garbage or utility bill such as water, phone, cable or electricity)
- 1st Friday of each month: 9 AM – 2 PM
- 3rd Friday of each month: 9 AM – 2 PM
