Jepson Prairie Organics (JPO), located east of Vacaville, California is a large commercial compost facility. JPO transforms locally collected yard trimmings and food scraps into a nutrient-rich soil amendment using Aerated Static Pile technology.JPO’s quality assurance program includes routine nutrient, metal, and pathogen analysis of our compost to ensure a high quality, consistent product.

Free Compost
Free compost is available from 4/1 – 10/31 to Vacaville residents who reside inside city limits at Recology’s Jepson Prairie Organics facility located at 6324 Hay Road in Vacaville. Residents may self-load up to four cubic yards of compost per day at no charge. Show your residual waste bill or other identification at the scale house. - Description: Rich and earthy smelling soil amendment
- Derivative: Recovered yard trimmings and food scraps
- Color: Black, rich brown
- Process: Material undergoes controlled biological decomposition. Finished material is screened to size.

Vermi Compost
- Description: Rich and earthy smelling soil amendment
- Derivative: Recovered yard trimmings and food scraps fed to Red Wiggler worms
- Color: Black
- Process: Produced from worm castings. Finished material is screened to size.

Topsoil Mix
- Description: Loam-based topsoil suitable for direct planting
- Derivative: A blend of Recology Premium Compost, rice hulls, wood fines, sandy loam, and gypsum
- Color: Sandy brown
- Process: Finished compost, screened and blended with amendments

Ultra-Potting Mix
- Description: Topsoil suitable for direct planting
- Derivative: A blend of Recology Premium Compost, rice hulls, Mendo peat, gypsum, Groganics, and pumice
- Color: Rich dark brown
- Process: Finished compost, screened and blended with amendments

Super Organic Compost 
- Description: Nutrient-rich top soil suitable for direct planting
